Singapore Thong Chai Medical Institution (STCMI)was established as a charitable clinic in 1867. Since the beginning, the Institution has adhered to the principles advocated by its founders of providing free medical consultation and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)to the public regardless of race, religion or nationality.
We are located at 50 Chin Swee Road. Each day, a team of 20 registered TCM practitioners in the Outpatient and Specialist Clinics tirelessly treat more than five hundred patients.Among these practitioners are six Ph. D (TC M)holders and two Master Degree (TCM)holders.
The Outpatient and Specialist Clinics are located on the ground and fourth levels respectively. The Specialist Clinics cover
five disciplines, namely Infertility, Nephropathy, Gerontology, Acupuncture and Oncology. Daily consultations, treatments and case studies are carried out in these clinics. The quality of our work has been well?respected and commended by the community.
In addition,STCMI operates a TCM library, a permanent Chinese herbal display and a medicinal nursery.
Besides rental and investment income, STCMI still needs to source for external funding to meet its operational budget. The responsibility of performing these critical tasks is assigned to a group of dedicated volunteers who organize numerous fund-raising activities throughout the year.
In 2003, with generous support from the public, the Thong Chai Institute of Medical Research was inaugurated. It is commissioned to raise the professional standard of TCM practitioners and to carry out scientific research on TCM.
To this end, numerous courses and workshops have been conducted.Highly qualified professionals in this field are specially brought in from overseas to share their expertise and knowledge with the researchers.
Having provided medical services to the general public for over a century, STCMI has gained tremendous goodwill and has established a fine reputation locally and internationally. The Institution wishes to express its gratitude to those who have recognized and supported the social role of STCMI in providing medical services to the needy.
STCMI appeals to philanthropists and the public for their continued support and generosity in furthering its mission.
STCMI is a charitable organization registered with the Singapore government. All donations are tax-exempted.
